Lay of the Land: the whole of Trollstigen in one drawing, streets, water, woods and hills included, with the route drawn into the map. Atlas prints the whole map tone on tone in mustard, with the streets and the route in paper white. Eleven hairpins stacked against an almost vertical rock face: that is the Trollstigen as you look up from the Isterdalen valley. From Åndalsnes you drive into the valley, then the climb begins, bend upon bend, crossing the Stigfossen, a waterfall plunging 320 metres down the mountainside. At the top, the viewpoints let you look straight down on the road you have just conquered. Beyond, the road glides across the high plateau and down a green valley to Valldal on the fjord. A Norwegian icon since 1936, and a map for anyone who loves design on a landscape scale.
