The story
Riding the Mur de Huy, you count chapels. From Huy the Avenue du Condroz leads you to the Chemin des Chapelles, where the real drama begins: past six small chapels of the Seven Sorrows the road gets steeper and steeper, reaching 26 percent on the inside of the bend at the third chapel. You are in your lowest gear, and the church of Notre-Dame de la Sarte never seems to get any closer. A memorial honours Claude Criquielion, who in 1985 became the first winner on the Mur. It is still where an Ardennes classic is decided. For anyone who knows that 1300 metres can last forever.
