    The story

Yachts bob in the marina on Yas Island as Abu Dhabi races into the sunset: the start comes in daylight, the finish under floodlights. Opened in 2009 and reshaped in 2021 for a faster flow, the 5.281-kilometre lap runs anticlockwise through 16 corners, from long straights to the twisty section beneath the illuminated hotel that spans the track. Even the pit exit dives through a tunnel under the circuit. Often the season's last race, it suits the fan who always stays until the final lap.
