The story
The Glandon from Saint-Étienne-de-Cuines saves its sting for the end. Nearly twenty kilometres and more than 1,400 metres of climbing, most of it spent working your way up the Villards valley, past Saint-Alban and Saint-Colomban. Then come the final three kilometres: hairpins at over ten per cent, with Mont Blanc rising behind you if you dare to look back. At the col stands a memorial to the French Resistance. Still got legs? The Col de la Croix de Fer is only two and a half kilometres further on. A print for riders who know a climb is decided in its last few bends.
