The story
High on a sun-baked plateau between Marseille and Toulon, Le Castellet unfolds among pine scrub and the song of cicadas. Its signature is the Mistral Straight, named after the fierce wind that funnels down the Rhône valley, broken by a chicane before the lap reaches Signes, a ferocious right-hander taken at enormous speed. Opened in 1970, it hosted the Grand Prix for many seasons and is famous for its bold blue-and-red striped run-off. Imagine it in a sunlit hallway, with a breath of lavender drifting in.
