The story
Public roads in the Sarthe, closed to traffic for the race, make up much of this 13.626-kilometre lap with its 38 corners. Since the first 24-hour race in 1923, drivers have chased the dawn down the endless Hunaudières straight, known abroad as the Mulsanne Straight and now broken up by two chicanes. Then come Mulsanne corner, fast stretches through the trees and the tight Arnage bend before the run home. Endurance racing in its purest form. Hang it up and feel the night stretch on, lap after lap.
