The story
Every Finnish stage has its photo spot, and at Päijälä it is the bridge in the village, one of the most iconic places on the route. The 20.2-kilometre stage starts on the private Liehu road, swings onto a wider road of long, cambered bends and crosses that bridge before joining the classic Päijälä road north: wide, firm, fast and loaded with jumps. Near the end it dives into a loop of small, soft forest roads, then returns for a last run past a farm to the finish. First run in 1977, it remains a favourite of the Finnish summer rally. For the fan who plans summer holidays around gravel.
