The story
Engines have echoed through these Saxon hills since 1927, when the first race used the roads around Hohenstein-Ernstthal. Today's track is compact at 3.671 kilometres and relentlessly twisty, turning left again and again as the lap winds through a natural amphitheatre. Then comes the Wasserfall, a blind, plunging right-hander where the cooler side of the tyre faces its toughest test. On motorcycle Grand Prix weekends the hillsides fill with tents, flags and barbecue smoke. A tight little gem for a cosy corner of your home.
