The story

Sebring began life as a wartime airfield in the flat citrus country of central Florida, and much of that concrete remains. Bumpy runway slabs and seams make every lap a physical battle, ending with the punishing sweep of Turn 17. Racing started in 1950, the 12-hour race followed soon after, and in 1959 it staged the first world-championship Grand Prix in the United States. Light aircraft still taxi beyond the fences. For endurance fans, this map smells of sunscreen, hot brakes and a finish under the stars.
