    The story

Between the Caspian seafront and the medieval walls of the Old City, Baku turns Azerbaijan's capital into a racetrack of extremes. The 6.003-kilometre lap runs anticlockwise through 20 corners: a flat-out charge along the seaside boulevard, one of the longest full-throttle stretches anywhere, and then a narrow, climbing passage past the ancient fortress walls, only a few metres wide, where one twitch means the barrier. Since its debut in 2016, chaos has never been far away. Hang it up and hear the boulevard roar every time you walk past.
