Elevation profile
The story
Not a mountain pass but a private drive: the Goodwood hill climb runs through a country estate in West Sussex, past Goodwood House, seat of the Dukes of Richmond since 1697. From the start near the house, the course climbs 1.16 miles (1.87 km) through nine turns, past Carne's Seat and on into the woods of the Downs. The height gain is only 93 m, but with trees and spectators close to the road there is little margin for error. Cars have raced up here against the clock at the summer festival since 1993. For the garage, the library or the study of any British motorsport fan.
