The story
The Hahntennjoch is narrow, steep and unpolished, and that is exactly its appeal. From Imst in the Inn valley the road climbs hard, with sections well into double-digit gradients, through the bare limestone world of the Lechtal Alps. At 1,894 metres you are surrounded by scree slopes and grey rock walls. Then you drop through the hamlet of Bschlabs to Elmen in the Lech valley. Vehicles over 7.5 tonnes and caravans are banned, and the pass closes in winter. For the garage or study of anyone who likes a road that makes you actually steer.
