The story
Ötztal on one side, the Sellrain valley west of Innsbruck on the other, and in between the Kühtai Saddle at 2,017 metres. From Oetz the road climbs hard through forest and rock until the valley opens up and you roll into Kühtai, a ski village perched high in the Stubai Alps. The descent is gentler, easing down through Sellrain towards Kematen, about 43 kilometres end to end. Summer brings cattle to the alpine pastures; winter hands the village over to the ski slopes. One for anyone who knows Tyrol by its mountain roads rather than its motorways, in the living room or hallway.
