Elevation profile
The story
Forty-three bends in 5075 m: the climb from Moneaux to the Col de la Croix-Saint-Robert gives the driver almost no time to breathe. The D 36 winds across the slopes of the Monts Dore, below the Puy de Sancy, the highest summit in the Massif Central, and finishes at 1451 m on open volcanic uplands. Racing here dates back to 1961, and the 2026 meeting was the 66th. The course first counted towards the European championship in 1970 and left that calendar in 2014, when each country was limited to a single round. For the fan who knows Auvergne by its bends as well as its volcanoes.
