    The story

Perched on the southern edge of an island south-east of Melbourne, this circuit runs almost to the cliffs above Bass Strait, with open sea behind the main straight. Racing here goes back to 1928, and today's 4.448-kilometre anticlockwise lap is all about rhythm: the long, sweeping Southern Loop, the corner called Siberia, then a rush over the hill and down towards the water. Wind, seagulls and changing skies come with every weekend. Pin it up for the fan who would happily spend all day on that windswept hillside.
