The story
In winter the Albula Pass closes and the stretch between Preda and Bergün turns into a six-kilometre toboggan run. Summer is your turn. From Filisur you follow the Albula valley upwards with the UNESCO-listed railway for company, until the line disappears into a 5.9-kilometre tunnel beneath the pass. You carry on over the top, on gradients of up to 12 percent, to a raw, rocky summit at 2,312 metres, then drop down to La Punt Chamues-ch in the Upper Engadine, 31 kilometres from where you started. For railway lovers and bend chasers alike, in the study or the hallway.
