The story
Today it is cars and motorbikes sweeping through the bends; a little over a century ago, this was the front line of the First World War. On the Falzarego, just over 2,100 metres up between Cortina d'Ampezzo and the Livinallongo valley, the traces are still there: tunnels cut into the rock of the Lagazuoi, right above the pass, which a cable car reaches straight from the summit. The road itself is part of the Great Dolomite Road and unwinds in long chains of bends through forest and bare rock. Open all year, weather permitting. Made for anyone who likes a road with a story.
