The story
Thirty-three hairpins lift the road out of Arabba, and nearly thirty more wait on the Canazei side. In between, at 2,239 metres, lies the highest point of the Great Dolomite Road: a broad saddle beneath the sheer, layered walls of the Sella group. If that is not high enough, the cable car from the summit carries you up to Sass Pordoi at 2,950 metres, where the pass road below looks like a loose thread dropped on the mountainside. Open all year, weather permitting, the Pordoi is a Dolomite classic in every season. A natural fit for anyone who measures the Dolomites in bends.
