The story
On the Sella you drive between two giants. On one side rise the jagged towers of the Sassolungo, on the other the great fortress of the Sella massif, and the road threads between them to a saddle a little over 2,200 metres up. It is around twenty kilometres from Canazei in Val di Fassa to Selva in Val Gardena, yet the views slow you down more than the bends. Together with the Pordoi, Gardena and Campolongo passes, it completes the classic loop around the Sella massif. Open all year, weather permitting. Perfect above the desk of anyone who has ridden that loop, or still means to.
