The story
The Würzjoch rewards anyone who takes their time. From Brixen the road climbs through the Afers valley, away from the bustle, through forest and high pasture, until at around 2,000 metres you stand directly beneath the north face of the Peitlerkofel. That wall of rock fills the whole windscreen. On the other side you descend to San Martin de Tor in Val Badia, in the Ladin heart of the Dolomites, with the Puez-Geisler Nature Park all around. In winter the road closes and its highest stretch becomes a cross-country ski trail. A wall piece for anyone who would rather face a rock wall than a traffic jam.
